2024-2025 Season Tryouts
Tryouts practice is the morning of March 23, 2024
(all tryout material will be taught)
At Davenport Central High School, in Grensing Fieldhouse.
The gym doors will open at 7:30 that day to turn in paperwork and get stretched. Practices with start at 8:00 am sharp and we will stay until we feel girls have a handle on material.
Tryouts: Saturday March 23, 2024 in Grensing Fieldhouse.
We will take a lunch/practice/get ready break from around 12:30-1:30 and then begin the tryouts after that break. Dancers will try out with a partner in alphabetical order.
Students are asked to stay at Central until tryouts are complete (let Coach Dennis know ASAP if there are any conflicts). We will pull girls back in to dance in groups after the small tryout.
The team will be announced at a later date (exact date, time and announcement TBD).
If you cannot make tryouts, you still can tryout, contact Coach Meredith Dennis to make arrangements.

EVERYONE TRYING OUT OUT NEEDS TO HAVE THIS PERMISSION SLIP OR A CENTRAL BLUE CARD (BLUE CARD IS REQUIRED ONCE YOU MAKE THE TEAM).

requirements
We encourage everyone to tryout regardless of dance background. Over the years many girls have made the team and been very successful without any dance experience coming in. However there will be some technical skills we are looking for at tryouts and this list will give you an idea. Keep in mind that just because you can do some of the skills does not mean you will automatically make that team:

Everything for JV, Plus: Triple Turn* Three Turns in Second into a double* Calypso Spinning Disc Center Leap Tilt Jump Optional Skills: Ariel Kip Up Headspring *Required skills for varsity. Dancers may be asked to demonstrate these several times throughout auditions. |

Videos of dances and combos will be posted in the BAND App prior to tryouts. There will be some things kids are expected to know when they come in that day. We will go over things and answer questions, but the more dancers know, the better.
