Dancers Have a Great State competition

1/6/2015

On Friday, December 5 the Blue Illusion Dance Team performed at the Iowa State Dance Team Competition. The girls earned division one ratings in all three of their routines, and for the first time in school history they placed, bringing home second-place for their hoop routine! The girls placed seventh in both pom and hip-hop. This is also the highest the girls have ever placed in these two divisions. There was only a four point difference between first place and seventh place in both divisions. The girls also brought home a distinguished academic award for a cumulative GPA of 3.5 to 4.0!

For the second year in a row we took an All-Male team to state. The boys also earned a Division I rating and brought home third place in their division. We are very proud of what they accomplished at the Iowa State Dance Team Competition, which is the largest state dance team competition in the country. Hundreds of teams from across the state took part in this two day event at Wells Fargo Arena at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.

The 2013-2014 Dance Team has been selected.  Congratulations to those girls who have made the team.  I am so excited for the new year and for all we have coming up.  The parent meeting will be April 6.  Time and location still undetermined.  I can tell you it will be in the mid morning.  I'll have exact for you within the week.  Don't forget, at the parent meeting your $100.00 deposit is due.  All payments are non refundable.  I have listed below the names of the news girls.  Find out more about your team mates as they accept their positions and we add them to the meet the team page!  Congrats again.  I'm looking forward to a great year.

I will go over things in more details in the coming weeks.  However, football squad will perform at Pre Game of All Home football games (with the band, doing fight song, and helping lead the team on the field).  They will also perform at half time of selected football games, and other events. You'll attend state.

The football team practices all Summer and goes to camp.  Camp is very important for growth, team bonding, and most important because that is where you will learn the routines you perform during football season.  Again, I will go into more details about expectations when I meet with the girls.

Part of taking the team to the next level is the use of Alternates.  This too will be something I go into in more detail when I can meet with you all.  The alternates are so very important.  We will be going to several different competitions this year and you never know when the schedule could conflict, so an alternate would be asked to dance.  This past season during basketball we had several girls get sick.  The alternate will dance in that case at the game/compeition.  The alternates will have to learn multiple parts and be ready to go in at a moments notice.  Also, I will always compete at State with the girls who know the routines the best and who look best as a team. I'll go into the details in person, so we are all on the same page.

Just know how proud I am of each and every one of you.  We are going to have a great season, this is a great group of girls.
